Procedure for installing plugins in GLPI

New installation

  • Backup your GLPI database.
  • Download the plugin from the site of GLPI.
  • Unpack the archive.
  • Add the unzipped folder in the plugins directory of GLPI.
    • Important: Do not rename the directory or the plugin will not work. To change the name of the plugin in the display of GLPI, you must edit the corresponding entry in the language file of the plugin.
  • Log out and log back in to GLPI.

To install a plugin, you must have sufficient access privileges - you must have write access for the setup menu in the root entity.

  • Configure the plugin (Setup Menu - Plugins - 'Plugin name').
    • If the plugin needs to add tables in the database, GLPI will ask you if you want to add the tables. Click yes. Once this is done, you will be redirected to the configuration of the plugin.
  • If this is the first plugin installed, a new “Plugins” menu appears on the main GLPI screen.
  • Click on the name of the plugin.
  • You can start using the plugin.

  • A new menu “Plugins” window. Click on the name of the plugin.

If the plugin needs to add tables in the database of GLPI, a prior use will be sought. Once this is done, you will be redirected to the configuration of the plugin.

  • If necessary, configure the plugin (Administration Menu - General Settings - Plugins - 'Plugin name').
  • You can start using the plugin.

Updating a plugin that already exists

  • Backup database or GLPI tables affected by the plugin (they are listed in the readme.txt).
  • Download the plugin from the GLPI site.
  • Unpack the archive.
  • If you haven't already done so, create a directory named old_plugins. This directory MUST be outside of the original plugins directory.
  • Move the old version of the plugin directory to the old_plugins directory.
  • Add the unzipped folder in the plugins directory of GLPI.
  • Log out and log back in to GLPI.

Uninstalling

  • Save the database GLPI.

To uninstall a plugin, you must place it on the root entity.

  • Go to the plugin configuration (Administration Menu - General Settings - Plugins - 'Plugin name').
  • Click Uninstall the plugin.

All data related to the plugin will be deleted.
